Folkestone – A town located on the South East coast of Kent . Folkestone has wonderful sandy beaches, a population of over 50,000, lovely period architecture.
There is also a working harbour, wide promenade to stroll, and is know for its excellent band concerts.
The town dates back to the late 17 th century, and as you walk through the town you may wish to take a look at the Church of ‘Saint Mary and St Eanswythe’ rich in excellent memorials. Two memorials in bronze stand in the town, one to ‘William Harvey’, who was a friend of the son’s of Charles 1, and made valuable discoveries of human blood flows. The other memorial is for the thousands of soldiers who gave their lives for the survival and peace of us all.
Day trip to France & Belgium: The tour will leave in the morning travelling over to France via the P&O vehicle ferry. From Calais the coach will drive to Belgium where you will be able to purchase confectionaries and low priced tobacco products, the coach will then depart for the short journey back to Calais stopping at Pidou which is a large supermarket with an extensive range of wines, beers and continental food products. The coach will then board the ferry and arrive back at the hotel in time for dinner.
